An appeals court in Florence, Italy overturned the not guilty verdict of Amanda Knox on Thursday, January 31, 2014, and upheld the guilty verdict against the Seattle student and her ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, for the 2007 murder of her British roommate, Meredith Kercher. Knox was sentenced to 28 1/2 years in prison, raising the specter of a long legal battle over her extradition.
